David McWilliams took millions of dollars from investors by saying he was building houses for people with profound disabilities. Despite having his assets frozen, Four Corners can reveal he is still living a lavish lifestyle.

The Gold Coast businessman accused of gambling tens of millions of dollars earmarked to build homes for the country's most disabled has allegedly continued to spend lavishly despite the Federal Court freezing his assets.

Mr McWilliams's case is part of a broader investigation by Four Corners that has found a profound lack of regulation in the disability housing sector, with property sharks using the NDIS name to line their pockets while investors see their life savings evaporate.David McWilliams hatched his disability housing plan while living in a luxury apartment, high above the Gold Coast glitter strip.

In the raid on Mr McWilliams's apartment, they discovered a locked pink suitcase containing $112,000 and black plastic packets labelled "Cannabis Infused Gummies".They also seized items from the nearby ALAMMC office — which was dominated by a basketball half-court. Expensive sporting memorabilia hung on the wall across from a Michael Jordan mural.

He also allegedly spent $6.8 million on a Fijian resort development, $600,000 on a Gold Coast modelling agency, and bought $3.3 million in cryptocurrency. The same investment promoter who introduced them to ALAMMC had also introduced them to another company group — Saorsa Health. For Mick Schroeter, that has had a very real consequence, with his family losing $1 million with ALAMMC and Saorsa.
