A man has been attacked by a shark off the coast of Queensland.

Acting Officer in Charge at Gladstone Police Station Danielle Martin said bystanders had performed"great first aid" to control the bleeding. He was first taken to Curtis Island where he was met by emergency services, before being taken to Gladstone by a police boat."We don't respond to these very often, but when we do they're a unique incident which requires us to work with other services to bring the patient in a timely matter," Ms Martin said. "We were able to transport him with minor to moderate injuries on this occasion.
