The US Department of Justice says it has charged 51-year-old Farhad Shakeri, alleging Iranian authorities had tasked him with preparing hits on Israeli and American citizens, including the president-elect.
The US Justice Department has charged an Iran ian man over a plot to kill president-elect Donald Trump , allegedly sanctioned by the Islamic republic's military.
In a statement released Friday, local time, the DOJ alleged Farhad Shakeri, 51, had informed law enforcement he was "tasked on October 7, 2024 with providing a plan to kill" Trump, and others. The DOJ said two other people had also been charged in connection with their alleged involvement in a plot to kill an US citizen of Iranian origin in New York.
