A 26-year-old man will remain behind bars after he was arrested over the alleged murder of a 44-year-old man in south-west Queensland last week.

Dale Joram Edward Hamilton was arrested at his home in Miles, west of Toowoomba, on Saturday and charged with the alleged murder of Jonathan Clarence Martin. Queensland Police allege an altercation occurred outside a Hawkins Street address on March 21, where Mr Martinunresponsive. He was taken by ambulance to Miles Hospital, where he was declared dead.

Chief Detective Inspector Garry Watts said police believed the incident was the result of an ongoing neighbourhood dispute."We're still looking at the nature of that altercation, but it appears it emanated from an ongoing neighbourhood dispute which led to some criminal damage and then subsequently to what occurred on Tuesday night."Detective Inspector Watts said he did not believe any other people were involved.

"We spoke with a number of people who were in and around the vicinity and were involved in the incident," he said.Mr Hamilton did not appear during the brief first mention of the case in Toowoomba Magistrate's Court on Monday.Magistrate Kay Philips adjourned the case to May 29 and ordered police prosecutors deliver that brief by May 2.
