A man has been charged with murder after remains believed to be those of Jana Armstrong, a woman reported missing from Toowoomba, were discovered in bushland off Esk Hampton Road. The victim was last seen on Tuesday wearing a green-and-white striped shirt, jeans, and thongs. Her car was found approximately 500 meters from her home. Police arrested a 48-year-old man at his Toowoomba residence and charged him with one count of murder, classified as a domestic violence offence. Authorities are seeking public assistance, including CCTV or dashcam footage, for the period between Toowoomba and Esk on the night of July 7-8.

As of Sunday morning, the remains were yet to be formally identified but Queensland police investigators believe they are those of Jana Armstrong. Armstrong was reported missing from a suburb in Toowoomba, south of Brisbane, after she was last seen on Tuesday. Officers released footage of Armstrong, seen wearing a green-and-white striped Country Road shirt, jeans and thongs, with her white Hyundai car located about 500m from her home.
A crime scene was declared at 11.20pm on Saturday after the remains were located in bushland off Esk Hampton road. Detectives later arrested a 48-year-old man at his Toowoomba home, and he was charged with one count of murder . Police appealed to the public for any relevant information, CCTV or dashcam footage to aid in their investigations.
They pinpointed locations between Toowoomba and Esk from 10.30pm on 7 July, after Armstrong was reported missing, to 1.30am on 8 July.
