A 47-year-old man who has been charged with murder after a 51-year-old woman was found dead on Bribie Island will appear in court on Wednesday.
Police attended a Melia Street address at Bongaree about 9pm on Thursday to conduct a welfare check. The woman, Janet Guthrie, 51, was found unresponsive and declared dead at the scene.Police found the 47-year-old man, who police allege was in a relationship with Guthrie, at South Caboolture on Friday morning.
He said the 47-year-old was taken into custody for unrelated matters last week before being charged with murder on Tuesday afternoon. Fadian, who had been tight lipped about the crime scene, revealed Guthrie suffered injuries to her chest, but would not go into more detail. When asked whether there had been a history of domestic violence, Fadian said police had been called to the address only on February 9 following a disturbance.
“Police took action on that date. However, prior to that, there was no other history between the two that we’re aware of,” he said.Police continue to appeal for anyone with information, including CCTV or dashcam footage of a white 200 Isuzu NKR 200 truck with Queensland registration 170 ZBA, to contact them.
