Manchester City's recruitment has paid dividends once more as Pep Guardiola's team look to make history this weekend against West Ham
Stefan Ortega is set to start for Manchester City against West Ham on Sunday with Ederson ruled out through injury.
And it is a testament to City's recruitment that there is very little difference between the club's first and second-choice goalkeepers. No City fan will be nervous about having a backup keeper in goal for their biggest game of the season after the crucial saves Ortega made on Tuesday against Tottenham.
With City having battled out a closely-run Premier League title race with Arsenal this season, Ortega looks set to play a key role should Guardiola's men go on to lift the trophy. The Gunners must beat Everton on Sunday and hope City slip up if they are going to pull off an unlikely title win. The 31-year-old still has plenty of years left in the game but won't unseat Ederson as the club's permanent number one. "No, is the first choice," said Guardiola in April when asked about City's goalkeeping department.
