Manchester City have agreed a £55.5m deal to sign Belgium winger Jeremy Doku from Rennes and strengthen their attacking options.
A low centre of gravity, a dogged persistence to keep the ball, and a desire to stand his defender up before dropping a shoulder and thinking past them.
Last season, as City won the treble, the attack was undoubtedly slower, favouring a more direct approach to supply Erling Haaland's relentless goal pursuit. When Jeremy Doku arrives this summer, they will keep that approach while being able to reintroduce the pace that has been absent since Sterling left.Last season, City had two different approaches in the wide areas, with Jack Grealish able to play cautiously or more aggressively.
In fact, Doku's stats from last season are more comparable with the final City seasons of both Sane and Sterling - with Sane's stats for 2018/19 used given he played just once in his final year. Sterling had 1.9 shots per game while Sane had 1.8, and both had 1.8 dribbles per game which is higher than the wingers managed last season.
City snapped up Croatian pair Mateo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol from Chelsea and RB Leipzig respectively, while Treble winners Ilkay Gundogan departed for Barcelona and Riyad Mahrez moved to Saudi Arabia. Aymeric Laporte's future at the club is now a hot topic too after City accepted an offer from Al Nassr for his services. Keep an eye on that one over the next couple of days.
