Manchester City suffered Champions League heartbreak at the Etihad on Wednesday night and must now lift themselves for two big games in the next week.
When Wednesday's titanic Champions League quarter-final between Manchester City and Real Madrid tipped into extra-time you could hear the faint sound of cheers drifting up the motorway from Cobham, for the biggest winners in the extra half-hour were Chelsea.
But then this is what champions do and no English team in recent memory has embodied the spirit of champions quite like this City side. They are capable of picking themselves up off the canvas and finding a way to reach another FA Cup final. That is what City are trying to avoid, both this weekend at Wembley against Chelsea and on Thursday night against Brighton at the Amex Stadium. It was only two days ago that Bernardo Silva was talking about a Double Treble being City's legacy, but it's possible they kick-off on Thursday night out of Europe, out of the FA Cup and third in the Premier League, four points behind Liverpool and Arsenal.
