The Three Lions international has barely featured for the Blues since his summer move from Leeds back in 2022 and again faces questions over his footballing future.
When Kalvin Phillips joined Manchester City from Leeds United last summer, most would be forgiven for thinking that the Blues hierarchy had once again struck gold in signing one of England's most impressive young midfielders.
What transpired were three losses and three sub-par performances from Phillips, with even youngster Rico Lewis again showing why he is another player ahead of the Yorkshireman in the City pecking order. Unlucky not to get a better opportunity nor run of games, that period could now spell the end for him in a City shirt.
A busy-body who excelled in England's run to Euro 2022 final, there is undoubtedly a player in there. Idolised at Leeds United, he even turned down the chance to sign for rivals Manchester United that same summer due to his long-stand love for his beloved Whites.
