Wildhouse Lane, near to Hollingworth Lake, has been closed off by police
A man was cut free from a car wreckage with another woman also rushed to hospital after a serious 'head on' crash on a main road on Sunday night .
A man who had to be rescued from one of the vehicles was taken to hospital in an ambulance alongside a woman, who was driving the other car involved, who was also left injured.The main road was blocked off from Smithy Bridge Road to Branch Road amid ongoing enquiries. Officers from GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit are now leading the investigation.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 7.50pm on Sunday 3 March, fire crews were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Wildhouse Lane, Rochdale. “Firefighters extricated a man from one of the cars, who was then taken to hospital by colleagues from North West Ambulance Service . A woman, who had been driving the other car, was also taken to hospital by paramedics.
