UPDATE: A 25-year-old man has died following a targeted double shooting in Sydney and another man has handed himself into hospital with a gunshot wound.
One of the victims John Odisho, 25, was shot in the head and taken to Westmead Hospital for emergency treatment. He died shortly after admission, having his life support switched off.NSW Police says emergency services were called to a unit on East Street about 3.45am, following reports of possible shots fired.A crime scene remains in place while investigations continue.
“As part of their inquiries, detectives will examine if a 28-year-old man who presented to Auburn Hospital suffering a gunshot wound to his stomach about 4am, is connected to the shooting,” NSW Police said in a statement.CCTV footage obtained by police shows one of the alleged shooters wearing high-visibility clothing as he ran from the scene.
Police would not confirm if the shooting is gang or drug related. It is understood neither of the two victims are co-operating with police. Nearby residents said they couldn’t believe the shooting took place in the normally quiet neighbourhood.
