A man arrested during this weekend's nationalist RAF Scampton protest has appeared at Lincoln Magistrates Court.
Richard Blackwell, 56, of Ackworth Road, Featherstone, was arrested by police on Lincoln High Street at around 2.30pm on Saturday, July 8.Blackwell has since entered a plea of not guilty. He has been released on unconditional bail, and a provisional trial has been set for October 2. The alleged incident occurred as the demonstration from the National Support Detachment group, led by Alek Yerbury, came face-to-face with a rival protest from the Lincoln Trades Union Council at the Stonebow Centre.A spokesperson from Lincolnshire Police said:"Officers were aware of a planned protest in Lincoln on Saturday, which was conducted safely and lawfully.
"We arrested one man for a public order offence. Richard Blackwell, aged 56, of Ackworth Road, Featherstone, was subsequently charged and remanded into custody."Sponsored
