A man is ordered to serve home detention for a roundhouse kick, delivered in excessive self-defence against a drugged, 'seasoned fighter' who was in a 'frenzy' near Adelaide's nightclub strip in 2018.
A South Australian judge has ordered a young man to serve home detention for a split-second roundhouse kick delivered in excessive self-defence against a "seasoned fighter" who had taken drugs and worked himself "into a frenzy" near Adelaide's nightclub strip in 2018.
Judge Fuller said Mr Ridge was a "clear and present danger to anyone unfortunate enough to become a target of his drug and alcohol-fuelled desire to fight". "You had seen him knock unconscious your friend, you had seen him twice attack a man in a black jumper and you saw him then advancing to your friend.Judge Fuller said Mr Ridge had consumed alcohol and six MDMA tablets that night and was looking for a fight, first challenging a group of men in a car park before one showed him a firearm.
