A man has died, and 12 other people were rushed to hospital after suspected drug overdoses at a Sydney music festival. 7NEWS
A 26-year-old man, who attended the Transmission Music Festival held at Sydney Showground, was taken to Bankstown Hospital at about 1.30am on Sunday for a suspected drug overdose.At least 12 other festival patrons were taken to hospital for treatment relating to drug use, seven of them requiring intubation, NSW Police said.
“More than 130 people were treated by medical professionals at the venue, with numerous complaints suspected to relate to drug use and heat exhaustion,” they said in a statement. The event which hosted more than 18,000 people was deemed “high risk”, prompting the hiring of many security officers, paramedics and medical professionals.A 23-year-old Oran Park man was charged with supply prohibited drug after he was allegedly found in possession of 253 MDMA tablets.A 21-year-old Fairfield West man was charged with supply prohibited drug and possess prohibited drug after he was allegedly found in possession of 149 MDMA tablets.
