The victim, 44, was in a critical condition for more than a week before dying from his injuries
Police were called to the city centre street at around 1.10am on Saturday, October 7. They found a white Audi TT, a grey Toyota Auris and a man who had been on the pavement.
A spokesperson said a post-mortem examination would be carried out to establish his cause of death. Connor Mears, 28 years, of no fixed abode, who was driving the white Audi TT car, has been charged in connection with the incident. Two other people arrested in connection with the incident, a 53-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man from Southport were released pending further enquiries.
