A 24-year-old man has died of a suspected drug overdose at the Strawberry Fields music festival in NSW's south-west on Sunday morning
He suffered a cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead shortly after 2am.Police are investigating the circumstances around his death and a report is being prepared for the coroner."We would like to send our sincere condolences to his family and friends during this distressing and terribly sad time," they said in a statement.
"We have implemented every single harm minimisation strategy that is legally available to us, run in-depth education campaigns on the dangers of drug use, and worked closely with all stakeholders to ensure we are in the best possible position to prevent and manage an incident like this."Four people have also been arrested for supplying drugs at a separate event, Festival X, in Sydney's west on Saturday.
Another 13 people were fined for possessing prohibited drugs and 137 drug detections were recorded at the festival.
The report also recommended staging a drug summit to develop evidence-based drug policy, scrapping the use of sniffer dogs and overhauling strip searches."I went to the election with this position and I won't be changing it," Ms Berejiklian said., who said he is "concerned about the message that pill testing sends to young people about the consumption of illegal substances".
