A man was shot to death Friday night in East Oakland.
OAKLAND — A 23-year-old man was fatally shot in East Oakland Friday night, authorities said.Officers responding to a ShotSpotter alert found the man about 8:52 p.m. Friday outside in the 10600 block of E Street, a residential area in the Stonehurst district.. He was pronounced dead at the scene.The killing is the 93rd homicide investigated by Oakland police this year.
It was the second homicide in less than seven hours Friday. A man was killed and two other men, including a guard, were wounded in a shooting during an attempted robbery of a Brinks armored truck that happened about 1:57 p.m. Friday in a parking lot in the 4400 block of International Boulevard.Last year at this time Oakland police had investigated 100 homicides in the city.
