A man has died in hospital from his injuries he suffered in a house fire in Ayr, where a woman died on August 9.
Emergency services responded to the fire about 5.40am at a property on Home Hill Road in Ayr, where two residents of the home, a 47-year-old woman and a 65-year-old man, were found. The woman was taken to Ayr Hospital in a critical condition and died that day.Police confirmed officers had been called to the home about 2.15am that morning for a welfare check on the couple.
“Police received a callout in relation to some comments that were made at the residence so they went and spoke to both of the residents that were there at the time and also had QAS assisting as well,” Acting Chief Superintendent Chris Lawson said at the time.It was not the first time police “had dealings with this couple”, Lawson said.
Lawson said a domestic violence order was taken out against the man in 2018 and police had attended the address in the past.
