A man has died in a workplace accident at a construction site in Sydney’s west. The man was injured just before 8am on Wednesday at a worksite on Kendall St in Clyde. The man was reportedly struck by plaster which collapsed. Emergency services raced to the scene to tend to the 55-year-old man but he could not be revived, NSW Police said. A crime scene has been established and an investigation is underway. Superintendent Adam Dewberry from FRNSW said the man died on site.
“It’s a true tragedy when you go to work during the day, expecting to go home,” he said “ an absolutely devastating day for everyone involved. “It’s a very sombre mood, which is understandable. It’s just an absolute tragedy.” Dewberry added workers at the site appeared to be “pretty close”. “These are things you don’t forget,” he said. “You take it with you for the rest of your life, so hopefully their wellbeing can be looked after.” The incident has been referred to SafeWork NSW.
