A dispute between neighbours turned ugly when a driver allegedly hit a man and woman with an SUV, leaving the woman seriously injured and the man fighting for life.
A man is fighting for life and a woman is suffering serious injuries after a dispute between neighbours over a dog led to a hit-and-run, police were told.
Just before 9pm on Monday, neighbours heard screams and what sounded like a car dragging something along the road on Cygnus Close in Doonside.Rushing out of their homes, neighbours found a man, 41, and a woman, 42, lying in the street. Both had serious head injuries and the man had also suffered chest and leg injuries.
Police arrived shortly after, and were told the pair had been hit by an SUV after being involved in a dispute. The driver of the SUV allegedly drove away from the scene. The man and woman were taken by paramedics to Westmead Hospital where the woman was in a serious but stable condition, while the man is fighting for life.
After police arrived and established a crime scene, a 27-year-old man was found nearby. He was arrested and was taken to Blacktown Hospital where he is under police guard.One neighbour said they were laying in bed and heard “what sounded like a car driving past on the rims”.the driver hit the man and woman multiple times and reversed into another car. The neighbours said they could overhear the trio arguing about a dog before the alleged hit-and-run.
