Lisburn Magistrates Court hears accused denies 'malicious allegation'
A Co Down man appeared in court on Saturday accused of stabbing a man he suspected of being a love rival.
Objecting to Dullaghan being granted bail, the officer outlined how police were called at 4.40am to an address at Sandy Street in Newry and when officers arrived, the defendant was at the front door. Arrested and interviewed Dullaghan denied using any knife or attacking anyone, claiming the alleged victim was “trying to get with his partner” so they were making up a story to “get him off side”.
While Mr Coulter argued that Dullaghan could be granted bail subject to stringent conditions and District Judge Amanda Brady said that while the barrister had “made all the points he could have,” she refused to grant bail.
