A man is in a critical condition in hospital after being found injured in a Melbourne home not long after being seen 'socialising with several people' near a shopping centre .Detectives in Melbourne 's south-east are calling on the public for help as they try to piece together how a man ended up with critical injuries. An investigation was launched into a 'life-threatening assault' after the 46-year-old man was discovered inside a Cranbourne home on Monday.

Police believe the man 'had been socialising with several people in the vicinity of Cranbourne Park Shopping Centre prior to 2pm on Monday'. 'Investigators are keen to speak to anyone who had any interaction with the victim in the lead-up to the assault,' a statement from authorities said
