Queensland authorities reported one man in his 30s sadly died with the virus, as the state recorded 4249 new cases overnight. 9News

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk offered her sympathies to the family of the man as Chief Health Officer John Gerrard said the death inside his Gold Coast home was abnormal.READ MORE:He said he believed the man had been vaccinated.Dr Gerrard said a rapid antigen test indicated the man had COVID-19.There are 10 people in intensive care, with just one, a man in his 80s, on a ventilator.

Dr Gerrard said in coming weeks, "substantial" infections would be recorded, saying "all of us are going to be exposed". "This is not influenza, this is more severe. We don't see this many people getting sick with influenza," he said.Queensland's COVID-19 peak coming
