The man was wanted by New Braunfels on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, authorities said.
Michael Anthony Oles, 46, was fatally shot Friday at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel just west of downtown.during an encounter with members of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force has been identified.
Michael Anthony Oles, 46, was fatally shot between 11:30 a.m. and noon Friday at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, 502 W. Cesar E. Chavez Blvd.Sgt. Kenny Mata, with the Texas Department of Public Safety, said in an email Tuesday that Oles had a warrant out for his arrest on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon out of New Braunfels. The U.S. Marshals Service, which oversees the Fugitive Task Force, had tracked Oles to the hotel's parking garage.
Task force members were attempting to arrest him when shots were fired, officials said. Mata, in his update on Tuesday, did not elaborate on how the shooting unfolded or how many times Oles was hit. A handgun was found at the scene, authorities said.
