Leach lost his dad tragically in a horror car smash years previously and the judge hoped that would make him aware of the dangers from careless driving. Leach tested negative for having drink and drugs in system and admitted fault at the scene. He was said to have been "lightly convicted", but has an entry for drug driving from 2021 on his criminal record.

She added: "That is a very real burden for a young person to bear, but he has done so successfully without question. Leach admitted causing serious injury by careless driving. He was handed a 14-month imprisonment suspended for two years plus 180 hours of unpaid work and was banned from the roads for two years.
