A 54-year-old man went missing at the Murray River Apex River Beach Holiday Park in Mildura on Tuesday afternoon after being seen calling for help from the water. A local resident witnessed the incident and attempted to locate the missing man before emergency services arrived. A large-scale search operation involving police, ambulance, and State Emergency Services personnel was launched, utilizing boats and a rescue helicopter to scan both sides of the Murray River.
A man, believed to be 54 years old, was reported missing at the Murray River Apex River Beach Holiday Park in Mildura just after 4pm on Tuesday. Mildura local Brodie Provan, who was on scene at the time, told the ABC he saw the man calling out for help from the water. 'I probably spent about 10 minutes in the water trying to find him, and then the police showed up,' Mr Provan said.
At least six police cars from New South Wales and Victorian units, four Ambulance Victoria vehicles, two State Emergency Services trucks, and a rescue helicopter were dispatched to the scene. NSW Police said that officers in boats were deployed, along with a rescue helicopter, to survey both sides of the Murray River, where the man was last seen swimming
