A man has been rescued from floodwaters in the Sunshine Coast as a severe weather event is expected to hit parts of Queensland this week.
"There’s going to be incredibly heavy rainfalls so we want people to think very carefully over the weekend… to think about their preparations," she said at a press conference.
Senior Forecaster at the Bureau of Meteorology, Jenny Storruck, told SkyNews.com.au the heaviest rainfall is expected to hit from Monday night and last through the week. “The meteorological drivers for this event combine a deepening surface trough with a trough in the upper levels of the atmosphere moving over Queensland from Tuesday which will really enhance the shower activity leading to the heavier rainfall totals.”
“Flood advices will be updated from tomorrow as we gain more certainty on expected rainfall distribution across the state with this event,” she said.
