Quadir Whitaker drove the suspected killer to and from the shooting that killed 43-year-old Petra Rhoden after she picked up food and was making a delivery in 2019, according to Passaic County prosecutors.
An accomplice in the killing of a DoorDash driver in Paterson was sentenced Thursday to ten years in prison, prosecutors said.after she picked up food and was making her last delivery of the night on Oct. 4, 2019, according to Passaic County prosecutors. Whitaker, 37, of East Orange, pleaded guilty last month to aggravated manslaughter.Rhoden was making a delivery around 10:20 p.m.
“The investigation also revealed the suspect’s vehicle had been following the victim’s vehicle as she was picking up food at a local drive through and making her last delivery,” Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said shortly after the slaying.Rhoden was remembered by family as a “giving, loving and caring” person who also had a passion for music.
In tossing Whitaker’s earlier conviction, the court found prosecutors failed to properly instruct the jury on the charges and could not prove that Whitaker had waived his right to remain silent, according to court documents.
