Joey Fraire, 18, fired on officers as they were trying to arrest him, leading to a gunfire exchange, police said.
Texas police and federal law enforcement have arrested a man in connection with the sexual assault of a teenager who was taken from a Dallas Mavericks game during an alleged trafficking scheme nearly 10 months ago, officials recently announced. Her family’s attorney previously told reporters the girl went to the game with her father and had left her seat to use the bathroom when, according to police, she met Cartagena outside the arena.
Emanuel Jose Cartagena was arrested on Jan. 26, 2023, on a felony warrant for allegedly sexually assaulting a then-15-year-old girl, where he sexually assaulted her, police said. The victim, who is now reportedly 16 years old, was tracked 10 days later, on April 18, to an Oklahoma City Extended Stay America where she was being"held," the family’s attorney, Zeke Fortenberry, said in a May press release.
