A man is recovering from a gunshot wound after he was allegedly shot by an intruder not known to him during a break-in at his Brisbane home overnight.
Detectives are investigating how the 26-year-old man was shot in the leg when a group of offenders, unknown to the occupants, broke into the home at Nundah in the inner city.
The resident grabbed a samurai sword to defend himself, which is believed to have scared most of the intruders out of the home.However, police believe that may have been the moment one of the offenders opened fire. "Initial investigations indicate a man in his 20s sustained a gunshot wound to his lower extremities during a break and enter," a police spokesperson said."I heard a gunshot and I thought I was dreaming," one neighbour said.The offenders fled the scene in a white car before police arrived.Anyone with information that could help investigations, including any dashcam vision in the area at the time, is urged to contact police.
