A 40-year-old man has died after being shot by police officers in Adelaide's south in the early hours of this morning. Police officers arrived at Craigburn Farm just after midnight after receiving a distressed call from the man's girlfriend, who told them he had stabbed himself in the stomach and was threatening further self harm, SA Police Commissioner Grant Stevens said. (9News) 'He immediately confronted police with the knife, and the police officers on scene deployed their Tasers unsuccessfully,' the commissioner said. 'The man continued to charge at police and as a result, police officers fired upon the man and he was fatally wounded.'Four police officers attended the scene, and more than one of the officers discharged their firearm, Stevens said. Paramedics worked on the man before he was transported to a medical centre where he died. There were no injuries to police. The man's girlfriend was not with him at the property, but had been on a video call with him before she called police.Stevens said it appeared the police officers involved acted in line with their training. 'I can say having watched the body-worn video that this was a highly stressful, dangerous situation, and the police officers appear at this time to have acted in accordance with their training and taken the action necessary to protect themselves and the ambulance officers who are on the scene,' he said. Tasers used by police may have been rendered ineffective due to a blanket covering the man, Stevens said.
