A man was hospitalized after an injury shooting Sunday in East Oakland’s Fruitvale neighborhood, authorities said.

Shortly after 3:40 p.m., police responded to a report of the shooting in the 1500 block of 35th Avenue near East 16th Street.

Officers arrived to find a man suffering from a pair of gunshot wounds to his leg and provided him care until paramedics and Oakland Fire Department firefighters arrived to take him to a hospital. He was later listed in stable condition. Police blocked off streets for several blocks to re-route traffic while working to recover evidence, but did not immediately share any associated suspect or vehicle description.
