The victim was treated at a hospital and released, police said.
PITTSBURG — A 37-year-old Antioch man survived a shooting alongside the Pittsburg-Antioch Highway on Wednesday night, police said.
Police were called to the highway east of Loveridge Road, about 8:45 p.m., Pittsburg police Lt. Gabriel Palma said. Once there, they found the man with a single gunshot wound that entered in the lower back, he said. An ambulance took the man to John Muir Medical Center, where he was treated and released within a few hours, Palma said.
Police have not made any arrests. Palma said the victim told officers he was driving and noticed two flat tires on a dumpster trailer, then decided to stop and help. According to Palma, the victim said he wound up in an altercation with a person who then fired the gun. Palma said police are still investigating that version of events.
