The man was taken into custody after the woman’s body was found on a dirt road in a fishing village.

A 38-year-old man has been taken into custody over the death of a mother-of-four whose body was discovered by teenagers riding on quad bikes on a dirt road in north Queensland.

Police were called about 4.45pm on Saturday to Jaloonda Road in Bluewater after a group of teenagers found the lifeless 44-year-old woman. The 38-year-old Deeragun man was taken into custody without incident around 8.30pm on Sunday at a business near Main Street on the Bruce Highway at Proserpine.Investigators also claim the man was travelling south on the Bruce Highway near Yarlboroo about 11.

On Sunday, Detective Inspector Jason Shepherd said the woman recently moved to the fishing village alone. He said the woman might have known her attacker but it was not being treated as a domestic or family violence case. “It doesn’t appear to be a situation where it’s a random attack on a stranger, it appears that she would have known who our attacker was,” he said.“There doesn’t appear to be any attempt made to conceal the body so it would have been very easy for anyone going on that track to see her instantly.”Police are expected to hold a press conference at midday on Monday.
