NT Police seize the vehicle of a 22-year-old man after five-year-old Paikea Hiko was hit by a car and suffered multiple broken bones while on a scooter near the Leanyer Water Park on Monday.
A 22-year-old man has been arrested for an alleged hit-and-run incident in Darwin earlier this week that hospitalised a five-year-old boy with two broken legs and a shattered shin.He suffered numerous fractures when he was hitNorthern Territory Police say the man handed himself into detectives on Thursday evening, after the boy was hit on Monday afternoon.
"I watched the kid go flying. Scooter in the air. Him in the air," said eyewitness Yianni Zaroufis, who rushed to the boy's aid. NT Police says it searched the man's address in Nakara after he handed himself in and seized a silver 2005 Ford Falcon BA XR6 sedan.He was refused bail and will appear in the Darwin Local Court today.
Detective Senior Constable Rhys Studders thanked the public for providing "numerous tips … with information and sightings of vehicles".
