The summer window might have closed a week ago, but Manchester United still have some important transfer decisions to make in the coming days.
Hannibal Mejbri remains at an awkward crossroads in his career, where he is wasted in the youth set-up but still not quite ready to be unleashed properly in the first team either.The 20-year-old received plenty of interest in the summer window, but Erik ten Hag was reluctant to let him go, given United's own need for extra options in midfield.
Hannibal, who is now on international duty, was recently warned by Tunisia head coach Jalel Kadri that if he does not play regularly, his place in the national team may be at risk. The player himself wants to do so after getting his first real taste of it with Birmingham last season. United may argue that Hannibal's opportunity will come once the League Cup and Champions League campaigns begin, but by then their midfield options may have been bolstered by the return of injured duo Mainoo and Mason Mount.
