Man Utd are continuing to struggle away from home under Erik ten Hag and they badly need their home form to get back to its best to turn this season around.

If there was one obvious area of weakness for Manchester United under Erik ten Hag last season, it was on the road. Their record in away games, especially big ones, was poor.

But as with so many other issues this season, rather than fixing one problem to take the team forward, United have instead regressed. Having built last season's success on a solid defensive record and their home form, this season they are letting in goals at an alarming rate and have become vulnerable at Old Trafford.

That feels fairly unlikely on the road. The 1-0 win at Burnley last month was scrappy and hard-fought, but United have won just two of their last nine away games, against Bournemouth and Burnley, losing seven of them. It's a woeful record that gives them very little leeway when it comes to picking up points at home.

Ten Hag's turnaround in the stature of United at home last season was one of the more impressive facets of his management. Too often over the last decade, teams had found it too easy to beat United at Old Trafford, sensing that vulnerability and going in for the kill.
