United will be hoping to get more out of Alejandro Garnacho as a starter in the coming weeks and months.
After plundering 30 goals in a single season for the first time in his career last season, Marcus Rashford will be deeply frustrated by the fact he has just one so far this term.
Though he grabbed an assist in the Champions League defeat to Galatasaray sandwiched between those two league outings, Rashford's start to the campaign has been poor. In his defence, however, it is hard for any player to thrive when a team is struggling as a collective. Sancho, of course, has since been frozen out of Ten Hag's plans after his social media outburst following last month's 3-1 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium but Garnacho is still very much in the picture. The 19-year-old has featured in nine of the Reds' opening 11 matches in league and cup this term.
It is a pattern that almost everyone has recognised over the course of this calendar year, raising justified questions about whether the Argentine is ready to become a regular starter for United. There is no denying he is more influential when tasked with impacting games from the bench, just as he demonstrated in last weekend's dramatic comeback against Brentford.
"You see always he is a threat in the game even when he is not playing that well. He has to learn when he does his job in defending, he will always have his moment and he will always be decisive because he has great qualities."
