Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is already eyeing silverware this season as his team prepare to face Liverpool in the Premier League.
Erik ten Hag says he is confident of winning trophies again with Manchester United - because only Manchester City have lifted more than his side in the past two years.
Speaking ahead of Sunday's eagerly awaited Old Trafford Premier League match against Liverpool, manager Ten Hag twice emphasised that only Premier League champions City have bettered his personal two-trophy haul since he took charge in 2022. United beat Newcastle to win the Carabao Cup in 2023, ending the club's six-year wait for a trophy, and then lifted the FA Cup in May after a surprise final victory over Manchester City at Wembley."In the last two years we won, behind City, the most trophies in English football," Ten Hag said."This year we want to win. We want to win trophies. I am quite confident we will do that.
While there have been many times over the past two years when it has seemed United are no further forward than they were during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's time in charge, Ten Hag is certain progress has been made."We brought young players in and progressed them. We won trophies. What more can I do? "As far as I know, the fans are happy with me, but I don't care if I get the credit or not. It's not about me. It's about Man United.
