A man who helped conceal the body of Ballarat mum Kobie Parfitt by throwing her remains down a mineshaft has walked free from custody after a court found he was motivated by a sense of misguided loyalty to the killer.
Brendon James Prestage, 33, was sentenced in the Supreme Court to two years and three months jail for his role in wrapping the body of the 43-year-old mother of four in plastic, loading it into his Ford Territory, driving to a mineshaft 30 minutes out of Ballarat and dumping her remains, in April 2020.Victoria Police
Parfitt’s supporters and family members wiped away tears as they listened in court. They declined to comment afterwards. “In assisting Ms Jeffrey in the aftermath of a homicide was entirely beyond his original contemplation. According to a witness who cannot be identified, there was an attempt after Parfitt’s death to make it look like a suicide.
