Technical director Ben Manga steps in to confirm watfordfc head coach Chris Wilder will not leave before the end of the season as rumours circulate
However, Watford issued their statement at around 1.45pm, adding at the end:"The club will offer no further comment on the position of Head Coach until beyond the end of the current campaign."
Wilder's six games so far have yielded only one win and five points, and while they are only six points off the play-off places a top-six finish now looks unlikely. However, in mitigation the former Sheffield United and Middlesbrough boss inherited a squad that was not exactly pulling up any trees in the Championship, and had already seen the back of Rob Edwards and Slaven Bilic this season.
After the game at Coventry on Monday, Wilder said he would"fight until the end" and has always made it clear that he was here to oversee the 11 games and any discussions about anything else would come later, if at all. The Hornets head into the weekend on a run of two wins in their last 14 games and, somewhat ironically, will face a Bristol City side managed by Nigel Pearson, who himself was sacked by Watford two games from the end of the 2019/20 season having only been appointed less than five months earlier.
