The highly-anticipated event is the last in the Players Series which boasts the 32-man World Grand Prix and 16-man Players Championship. Snooker bosses changed it from an elite eight-man tournament to a 12-man event after a string of top names failed to qualify last season. And world No.3 Allen said: “I think they have spoiled a really good event because it’s one we all looked forward to.
“I don’t think they should have changed it from eight players. You work your way from 32, 16 so they shouldn’t have changed it from eight," he added.
