In the bowels of the St George Leagues Club on Friday morning, around 50 of the Dragons’ most influential figures heard the new coach outline his plan to restore the club to its former glory.

Flanagan is a say-it-how-it-is kind of guy. It’s why, even with long-time CEO turned director and renowned Flanagan sceptic Peter Doust in the room, the coach had the audacity to make jokes about the famous “Oust Doust” banner that was a mainstay on the hill at Kogarah throughout his tenure. Enter Mark Taylor, the former Australian Test cricket captain who was invited to talk at the breakfast. He, along with Coyne, will be pivotal in Flanagan’s development of leadership at the club.
The prospective Dragons commercial partner said he would rather the coach give an opportunity to a young player who cared about the club than continue to support Hunt.
