The prospect of a second Donald Trump presidency has pushed the US share market and bitcoin to new record highs, while the Australian dollar has slumped.
The price of the precious metal had surged to record highs in recent months on expectations the US Federal Reserve will cut interest rates quite aggressively in the months ahead. The prospect of a Trump presidency, however, has led to the Australian dollar falling 0.8% to 65.8 US cents.
