The Italian label embraces energetic Parisian grace for their PFW debut
Marni debuted their first Paris Fashion Week show with quite a slay. Located at the private residence once owned by the legendary Karl Lagerfeld, the collection celebrated Paris whilst remaining true to the brand’s avant-garde identity. Creative Director Francesco Risso is not afraid to play, as proven in the collection. His eccentric style tacks onto each look, creating a hypnotic blend of playful refinement.
Simplistic silhouettes paired with anomalous shapes and cartoon-like textures are the essence of the collection. From tasteful tailoring and billowing designs, each look was delectably coated in a reinvigorated chapter of Marni.Garments are made up of voluminous skirts, overcoats, tank tops, long-hemmed trousers, tremendous trench coats, and shrunken knits and tunics. Prints are done in checks and stripes, woven into jacquard, or patched into tanned leathers, checks become a map in the pockets.
Accessories are offered in the form of gigantic bags, pointed-toe shoes, colorful sunglasses in a variety of cool styles, knee-high boots, classic kitten heels, trapezoid-shaped clutches and shoulder bags, and leather ballet flats. Makeup and hair were done both unconventional and chic to combine the best of both worlds .Marni’s Paris takeover at Lagerfeld’s old stomping grounds was memorable, to say the least.
