Martin Keown believes Australian Old Firm funds should be shared with the rest of SPFL
Invincible stated he believed that should the two Glasgow clubs go ahead with the tournament, they should give half the funds to the rest of Scottish football., “And survival, and finding ways, clever ways for them [Scottish teams] to be able to compete on the European stage.
“Of course, they will have a Champions League team now as we talked about earlier, but nevertheless if they’re going to attract top players they have to have the revenue sources and it simply isn’t there.” He continued: “If they do a game like that, with the two sort of giants of the league, Celtic Rangers, goes to Australia, then maybe half of that money should be shared with the rest of Scottish football, or certainly the Premier League in that country.
“Because how do they [other teams] compete otherwise? They’ve already got this disparity which will come in with the Champions League money, and I know some of that’s distributed. I think it’s only about £300k to £400k, which is something for the teams that are lower down in the Scottish Premier League.
