Martin Lewis' Money Saving Expert shared the different councils you can get support with buying costly school uniforms
The school holidays are here – which means it's about time to buy a whole new set of uniforms. But this, as all parents know, can be very costly.Martin Lewis' Money Saving Expert shared some of the top grants parents can apply for now.
Where can I apply for a grant? In England, parents can receive support with buying school uniforms under the Education Act 1990. These grants are worth up to £150 per child, but how much you get, and if you qualify, depends on where you live.For more information, take a look at your local council's website.

Across the rest of the UK, different school uniform grants are also available.This is usually a cash grant paid into your bank account to help with buying your kids' uniform and shoes.
Eligibilty and the exact amount given is dependent on your local council, however everybody eligible will get at least:Northern Ireland In Northern Ireland, there are uniform grants available to some pupils. To receive this, you need to apply to the Education Authority.Wales In Wales, low-income parents can apply for the School Essentials Grant, which can help with paying for school uniform costs.
