Martin Lewis shares 'need to know' flight compensation rules that could leave you £520 richer

Martin Lewis has shared the five steps you can follow to get up to £540 compensation Holiday season is in full swing and dreaded flight delays and cancellations are always a worry when it comes to jetting off around the world. Let’s face it, there’s nothing worse than showing up to the airport for your lads trip to Magaluf, only to find you’re not going anywhere anytime soon.

This means that your flight is operated by American Airlines, so even if you’re flying into a UK or EU airport and your flight is delayed, you won’t be eligible for compensation. Top tip: If you’re significantly delayed at the airport, the airline must pay for food, drink and, if necessary, overnight accommodation – so keep receipts. If you fit the above criteria and your plane is delayed, to be compensated flights must have arrived more than three hours late.
