Three banks are offering people £175 to switch their everyday banking services.
Martin Lewis shared three easy ways to earn £175 in free money without having to spend a penny while on Good Morning Britain co-presenting duties on Wednesday. The consumer champion explained to ITV viewers how three banks are currently offering the cash incentive to those willing to switch their banking services from their current provider.
The founder of MoneySavingExpert said: “Unless your bank account tickles your toes, makes you happy, gives you a massage, if you need some free cash check out whether you can ditch, switch and make yourself a little bit of free cash.” Martin said: “Santander Edge, probably my overall top pick gives you £175 free and if you pay £3 a month it gives you 1% cash back on all the bills you paid for it by Direct Debit and 1% cashback on grocery and travel up to a maximum £10 for each category, so £20 a month.
For those interested in the First Direct switching offer, Martin explained that the bank comes out on top for customer service in almost every poll. He said: “It’s fee-free, free £175 with a 0% overdraft for most people up to £250, so if you're overdrawn or your dip into it the £175 quickly pays some of that off and you won't pay interest on the rest.”
